Julian McMahon, best known for starring in “Nip/Tuck” and “Charmed,” has died following a private battle with cancer. He was 56.
McMahon’s wife, Kelly McMahon, confirmed his death in a statement to Deadline. The Australian American star’s wife Kelly told the outlet Friday that McMahon died peacefully in Clearwater, Florida on July 2.

“With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,” Kelly said in the statement.
Kelly, who tied the knot with the “CBS’ FBI: Most Wanted” actor in 2014, went on to tell the outlet that he was a man who “loved life.”

“He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible,” she continued. “We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy, to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories.”
McMahon notably starred as scientist turned supervillain, Dr. Doom, in 2005’s “Fantastic Four” and its 2007 sequel, “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.” He also played Dr. Christian Troy on the TV series “Nip/Tuck” and Cole Turner on “Charmed” during his nearly 40 year acting career.
